When Should I Replace My Windows?

Not sure when to replace your windows? here are some tips to help you decide...

  • Determine how many panes of glass are in your window. Single paned window are the least energy efficient. With double-paned or triple-paned ENERGY STAR compliant window you will enhance the energy efficiency and make your home more comfortable in all seasons.
  • Look for condensation inside the glass on double or triple glazed windows. This could indicate seal failure. If this is the case consider replacing the glass or the window.
  • Do your windows operate with ease. If they are hard to open and close or they do not stay open this is a good indication that you need new windows.
  • Do you notice light coming through the cracks in your window? If so, this can indicate seal failure and most likely energy loss.
  • Does it seem considerably noisy in your house? If so consider laminated glass on your replacement window. This will cut down on the noise considerably.
  • If you live in an old home and your windows have weights in them. These are usually single paned windows and very drafty. Time to consider replacing your windows as you are losing energy.
